The 3/4″ nylon shank flexes well but keep in mind the Zephyr has more sensitivity to the under-sole than a hard core mountaineering boot like my Scarpa Eiger’s but you can’t run in mountaineering boots and is also why the Zephyr is limited to lighter backpacking loads.
