Why should we teach values in school?
Teaching values in school helps students learn and practice healthy attitudes and behavior, such as respect, honesty and kindness. Even though students still make their own choices, teaching values encourages them to not cheat, lie or steal but, rather, to treat others as they want to be treated.
Should schools keep sports?
Better Academic Outcomes It stands to reason participation in sports can help improve academics. One reason is most schools have a minimum GPA in order to participate on a school team. For some kids, this is good motivation to study hard. However, regular exercise also improves memory and increases focus.
How do we teach values?
A great way to teach children values is to read to or with them. Many children’s stories carry a message and impart a value. Children love us reading to them, and this can become part of the daily bedtime or after-dinner routine. Choose a story that will illustrate one or two values that are important to you.
Do sports take away from school work?
There is no reason that involvement with athletics should take away from a student’s academics. In fact, having the social and physical outlet of athletic involvement may actually lead the student to even more academic success.
What would happen if school sports were dropped?
If school sports were dropped many students including myself, would be very upset. It would affect many people on a positive and negative level. Students would be more focused on getting their assignments done when they get home instead of trying to balance homework and practice.
Why do we like watching sports?
People like sports because they get self-esteem benefits from it. People like sports because they have money on it. People like sports because they need an escape from real-world troubles. People like sports because it provides a sense of belonging, a connection to a wider world.
