Why is my pool filter surging?
The number one cause of pump surge or pulsing is your classic air leak. The more pressure your pump creates, the easier it is for air to get sucked through even the smallest leaks. And since air poses less resistance than water, it will get sucked by the pump instead of water, causing the pump to pulse.
Why is my pool filter not suctioning?
It could be something blocking it, a dirty pool filter, or too much air in the system. If there’s something blocking your pump’s suction, check your filter gauge. Then check your pump basket and impeller for debris. If there’s air in the system, it’s probably coming through the skimmer or leaky o-ring.
Is my pool pump clogged?
What are the symptoms of a clogged impeller? If your pool pump impeller is clogged, it’s probably making some unpleasant noises (a low, grinding sound). If you look at your filter pressure, it’s likely only half of what it normally reads and the water in your pump is moving slowly or making a swirling motion.
What would cause a pump to surge?
Surges are caused by sudden changes in flow velocity that result from common causes such as rapid valve closure, pump starts and stops, and improper filling practices. If the pumping system is not controlled or protected, contamination and damage to equipment and the pipeline itself can be serious.
